Founded in 1897, Victoria University of Wellington is renowned for its quality of teaching and research. The university is located in Wellington, New Zealand’s capital city. Student life at Victoria University

Student life at Victoria University Victoria University has four campuses, three of which are within a 20-minute walk of each other in the city centre; Kelburn (main campus), Te Aro and Pipitea. Karori is a 10-minute drive from the city centre. University facilities include a main library, cafés, a bank, book centre, computer shop, newspapers, travel agent, recreation and cultural facilities and health service. There is support available for all aspects of university life – academic, social, cultural and personal. 

The Students Association helps students in many ways and funds almost 100 social, sporting, cultural and ethnic clubs. Victoria has access to playing fields and facilities that offer the chance to be involved in rugby, soccer, cricket, tennis, squash, netball, and climbing. At the Recreation Centre, students can get involved in a wide variety of health and fitness activities, outdoor pursuits, dance classes, and arts and crafts.

Housing

Victoria University’s Accommodation Service offers students assistance in finding somewhere to live; from halls of residence to advice on renting. The halls of residence are for full-time Victoria students, typically staying for a year. For students wanting more independence, there’s a variety of housing options spread across the city, including apartments, townhouses, studios and furnished rooms. Homestay accommodation is an option for international students who want to practice their English in a family environment.

Victoria can assist students in finding private accommodation, but students should in keep in mind that private accommodation in Wellington is often unfurnished.

The academic year is made up of 2 trimesters - February (trimester 1) & July (trimester 2).

Apply to Victoria University of Wellington

Victoria University of Wellington has rolling admission, but we recommend that you apply to the university at least 3-4 months before study start/semester start. 

Victoria University can consider good English grades on your high school diploma/leaving certificate. If the English requirement isn’t waived you will have to take an English language test (IELTS/TOEFL).
