"I'm having the time of my life!" says Swedish Maria Lundgren who studies Diploma of Sport Development at TAFE in Australia. Read Marias personal story about student life Down Under and at TAFE below.
"Previously, I used to work as a hairdresser in a small town. I actually enjoyed my job, but I wanted more in life. I was tired of being stuck in the same place and I wanted to do something else, and see something else. I wanted to explore life!
Sport and fitness is a natural part of my everyday life and something I really enjoy doing. Also, I wanted to become better. I chose to study at TAFE in Moolooba in Queensland in order to obtain an international PT-license. It was actually by coincidence that this tiny place in Australia ended up becoming my new home, and I never ever would have thought that I would end up loving this place so much.
We have long beaches, cosy cafées and lovely people. Moreover, the education has met my expectations and more. I thought it would be an easy education with not much to do, but it really isn't. Studying Sport Development in Australia is full of new learnings and always fun. We attend school from Monday to Thursday and we study anatomy, body gesture, boxing, health related courses and so much more. The teachers are amazing and the level of teaching is really high.
In our spare time we chill alot. We hang out at the beach, play volleyball, surf, enjoy BBQ's and work out.
I live in an apartment with two other students just minutes away from the beach. I bike to school in 15 minutes. It's a small and cosy town but we also have the opportunity to head to Brisbane which takes around 1,5 hours. We go there if we miss city life and H&M too much :)
If you want to see more from my life in Australia I will post pictures from the school and our spare time on my instagram @mmarialundgren
I want to thank KILROY and especially Caroline who helped me with all of the paper work, explained me everything and answered all of my questions. I received a lot of help."
