Accommodation at Griffith University is waiting for you to move in. Sure, you need to make some choices and do some research but you have several options and all the help you need available. On-campus, off-campus, alone or with new friends – you choose.
Griffith University's 5 campuses - South Bank, Nathan, Mt Gravatt, Logan and Gold Coast - all have good housing options. Just find out where your courses are taught and then choose an option suitable for your needs and budget. And don’t hesitate to ask for help along the way!
There’re different options of accommodation – one for each mindset.
On-campus accommodation is available at Gold Coast, Nathan and Mt Gravatt campuses. If you choose this option, you’ll be in walking distance from campus and you’ll quickly get to know other international and Australian students - and you won’t have to worry about finding somewhere to live after you arrive.
You can also choose the off-campus options, which can give you more freedom and might even be cheaper than the student housing options on campuses. The student guilds, International Student Advisors and the University’s accommodation service will assist you in finding your own place. The student guild on Gold Coast campus even offers a mini-van service during the orientation week to drive you around to view available rental places – just ask for help, be proactive and you’ll be sure to find place to call home during your studies at Griffith.
If you wish to live in a family environment, you may opt for the homestay alternative. A homestay is a good opportunity to take a deep dive into Australian lifestyle and to really get to know the local way of living. Of course homestay is a very different experience than living with your new university friends, and there nigh be some new family rules to learn...
Most European students prefer private accommodation in shared apartments. Get in touch with our study advisors to learn more about housing options and to discuss which would suit your needs and wishes the best.
No matter where you live, the student life at campus is gripping. Be active and meet like-minded people in one (or several) of the 120 clubs based on cultural, religious, political, educational, sporting, professional and special interest groups. All campuses offer several options for competitive sport so join the sports team or get involved in university sports by cheering in the audience!
Aside sports, which sure come in variety of forms – gym and fitness centres, swimming pools, athletic track, and tennis, basketball, netball and beach volley courts – the Griffith campuses offer also everything else that you will need. You’ll have bookshops, cafes, food outlets, general stores, post offices, travel agents, theatres, galleries, hairdressers, medical centres, juice bars etc. at hand.
There are also other facilities to support your student life. The International Student Advisors are at your service to guide you in settling into Australia and make the most of your Griffith experience. At Griffith students have, among other services, their own Health Service, Counselling and Welfare and Student Liaison Office. You can also get help in developing your academic skills at the Learning Centres. The Careers and Employment Service offers career mentoring and prepare you for your job search.
All five campuses are well located within the public transportation systems. Regular bus, train, ferry and light-rail services will get you around within the campuses, into the cities and nature.
