What programs and courses can I study at the University of California, Berkeley Extension?
International Diploma Programs - 2, 4, 8 or 12 months:
The university offers International Diploma Programs (IDP) that allow you to enhance your knowledge and experience with full time, intensive study in specific business disciplines. You earn a certificate in either a 2, 4, 8 or 12 month program.
The IDP Certificate Programs offer:
New skills to add to your current job or future career.
Instructors with extensive work experience.
A combination of theory and practice.
The areas you can choose to focus on are:
Business Administration: 2 or 4 month IDP. Ideal of you want to gain a practical understanding of business or plan on a career that requires knowledge of U.S. principles.
Entrepreneurship: 4 month IDP. Learn how to successfully launch and manage your own business.
Finance: 4 month IDP. Ideal if you plan on taking an M.B.A. program, manage your own company or a career in the financial world.
Global Business Management: 4 month IDP. Practical and intensive foundation for understanding and managing international transactions.
Management and Leadership: 2 or 4 month IDP. Receive training in the concepts, functions and skills of general management.
Marketing: 4 month IDP. Learn how to use marketing to increase your company's success.
Project Management: 4 month IDP. Prepare for developing and leading difficult projects in a cross-cultural environment.
You can also combine either one or two 4 month IDP's with an internship
8 month program after succesfully completing a 4 month IDP, you can do a 4 month internship at a U.S. company. This 8 month diploma program allows you to put your theoretical knowledge into practice.
12 month program: the University also offers a 12 month program called the Management and Business Track (MBT). In this progam you complete two 4 month IDP's of your choice and finish your training with a 4 month internship.
The MBT program allows you to acquire business skills in half the time of an M.B.A. program. It combines academic learning, intensive training and hands-on work experience.
